With two Ducati Panigale R's on the Superbike grid, NOW is the time to start watching MotoAmerica.

With the new season's first race coming at the end of April (4/30), we wanted to highlight a few reasons why you should start watching the American Championship. This year, there will be two Ducatis competing for the championship. And one of them will be piloted by a former MotoGP rider.

Absolutely the biggest news in MotoAmerica right now is former MotoGP racer Loris Baz moving over to America for the first time. Last year's sole Ducati rider, Kyle Wyman, is back on the Superbike grid again, having another year on his KWR Ducati under his belt.

Last season marked a historic moment for Ducati as their Italian rider Lorenzo Zanetti took a phenomenal victory at the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Zanetti successfully fended off the advances of the best superbike racers in the United States and made a memorable U.S. debut for the Ducati Corse-supplied Panigale V4 R. That was the first American victory for a Ducati Superbike since 2010! And now, with Loris Baz replacing the race-winning Zanetti, all of a sudden, Ducati look poised to win another Superbike Championship. If either rider could do it, it would be the first Championship title since Troy Corser in 1994.

Loris Baz

Class: Superbike
Team: Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati New York

The 28-year-old returns to the Ducati fold for the first time since he rode for Ducati’s satellite team. During the last two years of his MotoGP career in 2016-17 he rode for one of Ducati's satellite teams, Aventia. After that, he was a competitor in the World Superbike paddock until 2020. Now he sets his sites squarely on winning the championship.

“Our only goal is to win, to be honest,” Baz told the official MotoAmerica website. “I don’t give myself two chances. I just want to win. I don’t go for something else."

Kyle Wyman

Class: Superbike
Team: Kyle Wyman Racing (KWR)

Kyle Wyman boasts an impressive MotoAmerica setup as his own team owner and rider. And after having flashes of great racing last season, impressing many, he looks to build on that success in 2021.

“If we can find a way to win a few races, that’s a realistic goal for us." says Wyman. "A full winter of me being healthy with no surgeries and training, that puts us in a great place. There’s no reason we can’t take another step.”
