2023 Honda PCX Scooter First Look Preview

Jun. 14 2023 Review By Serena McKnight

The PCX remains a part of Honda’s four-scooter lineup for the 2023 model year.

Honda has officially confirmed the return of its PCX scooter for 2023. Now the PCX comes in a new Matte Brown Metallic and is only available as an ABS-equipped model for $4,149. For context, the PCX was available last year in both ABS and non-ABS forms in Pearl White.

This scooter’s last major engine update occurred in 2021, when displacement increased to the current 157cc. For 2023, there are no mechanical updates on the freeway-capable 157cc single or its fully automatic transmission system.

Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) is equipped to improve safety in low traction situations. According to Honda, this system monitors wheel speed and throttle opening, and when slip is detected, the system intervenes by limiting engine torque. It can be turned off as needed.

Suspending the scooter over the rough blacktop is a 31mm telescopic fork with 3.9 inches of travel and dual shocks with 3.7 inches of travel. The 2.1-gallon fuel tank is located under the floorboard for a low center of gravity.

Commuter conveniences include a 1.7-liter front storage compartment with a USB-C socket as well as a massive 30-liter underseat storage space that is claimed to fit a full-face helmet. It comes with a sidestand and centerstand for a small parking footprint.

When it comes to styling there’s the bubbly retro-styled Metropolitan and then there’s the modern and angular PCX. And Honda was sure to be consistent with the sharp details on the latter.

Not only does the engine cover match the scooter’s design lines, but its LED taillight design incorporates an “X” shape to distinguish the PCX. The rest of the LED lights and three-dimensional bezel structure around the LCD display keeps the edgy aesthetic going.
