Honda's 50 Year Special Edition Gold Wings

Mar. 1 2025 News By Kurt Spurlock

Honda’s new special-edition paint jobs draw inspiration from some of the most iconic Gold Wings in history.

Your 50-year wedding anniversary is traditionally called the “golden” anniversary. You throw a party, you buy your spouse a gold-themed gift, and you look forward to sharing your golden years. This year marks Honda’s 50th anniversary of producing the world’s most revered touring motorcycle, and it definitely isn’t skimping on the gold.

Editor’s note: We last test rode the Gold Wing Tour DCT during the 2021 Honda Gold Wing Tour DCT MC Commute Review article and video.

Specifically, it’s giving the 50th Anniversary Edition Gold Wing the slickest two-tone gold paint job money can buy, a commemorative livery the brand has dubbed “Eternal Gold.” Our Gold Wing historians will likely recognize the new trim as a throwback to the special edition Wings of the 1980s, a period during which Honda created and defined the “luxury touring” segment as we know it today.

The new Eternal Gold paint recalls special edition bikes like the 1984 Gold Wing Aspencade.

If gold isn’t your thing, Honda is also offering two other special edition options, one being the Bordeaux Red Metallic seen below (another clear throwback to the classic Interstate Gold Wings) as well as a Matte Black Metallic that’s unique to the standard bagger version of the 2025 Gold Wing.

Bordeaux Red Metallic is the other anniversary edition for the Gold Wing Tour, and takes inspiration from the original Gold Wing Interstate models.

The special 50th anniversary bikes also get unique badging on the key fob and above the seat, as well as a “Since 1975″ graphic that displays on the large TFT dash when the bike is turned on. Interestingly enough, Honda says it’ll also be including a large coffee-table book as a gift to buyers, as well as a 1:12-scale model that features the latest Gold Wing on one side and the original 1975 model on the other.

Aside from the special liveries, however, the 2025 Gold Wing remains essentially unchanged from the last major overhaul in 2018. Engine, chassis, suspension, etc., are all identical to the previous year model, as are the electronics, creature comforts, and safety features.

Owners of the 50th Anniversary models will also receive a commemorative model and coffee-table book from Honda.

In fact, the only notable upgrade over last year’s offering is the addition of fully wireless functionality for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The need to have a hard-wired USB connection was starting to feel pretty dated on the 2024 models we tested last year though, so that’s an upgrade we’ll wager many riders will appreciate.

Speaking of which, Honda has also confirmed that due to the widespread adoption of the aforementioned platforms, the Gold Wing’s native navigation system has been removed for 2025. This should help to simplify the user experience by removing redundancies from the menus on the handsome 7-inch TFT dash.

Aside from that, it’s business as usual, and all the same trim levels (seven total by our count) are back for the 2025 model year. The Gold Wing Tour 50th Anniversary, with its 61-liter trunk and integrated backrest, is offered in standard, DCT, and DCT Airbag configurations, while the bagger-style Wing gets both standard and DCT versions.

The final two variants are both standard and DCT versions of the Gold Wing Tour, minus the special edition paint, badging, and home decor. These bikes are only offered in a Light Silver Metallic color, but they’re also a few hundred bucks cheaper.

The standard “bagger” style Gold Wing gets its own unique livery including additional painted logos across the color-matched luggage.

Pricing for the 2025 Honda Gold Wing Tour starts at $28,700 for the non-anniversary trim and tops out at $33,500 for the 50th Anniversary Edition with DCT and airbags. The standard/bagger-style Gold Wing will only be available in the 50th Anniversary matte black livery this year, and starts at $25,200 with a manual transmission. All models and trim levels will be available in showrooms this March.
