Ronnie Lunsford - A Tribute From V1 MOTO
We at V1 MOTO feel that we need to inform our Houston motorcycling community, and the Houston community in general of the recent passing of Ronnie Lunsford. Having been instrumental in the change from Bob Lunsford's Ducati Northwest Honda to V1 MOTO, as well as playing an ongoing role in it's operations, we feel our thoughts should come from our President and GM Carlos Lescale. Carlos says...
"It’s with great sadness that I share with you the passing of Ronnie Lungsford. It is hard to accept how and why life happens this way. Why God would take away a great man, when he was living his life to the fullest, enjoying his retirement and doing what he loved the most, riding motorcycles. Ronnie was instrumental in developing the motorcycle and racing scene in Houston. The passion he had for two-wheels is what bonded us together, we are a rare breed. I’m so grateful for the friendship Ronnie and I shared. He helped me pursue my dreams and create memories I will cherish for a lifetime. I hold with pride the passing of the “torch” of Bob Lunsford’s Ducati Northwest Honda. I will continue his legacy of hard work, love and the passion he brought to the motorcycle industry."
Carlos goes on to say, "He will be greatly missed… Ride free brother. R.I.P Ronnie Lunsford."
Ronnie was 63, and is survived by his wife Janet, twin daughters Leigh and Lauren, and two grandchildren. Join us in sending your thoughts and prayers to Ronnie's family and friends.
Ronnie was well known and well-regarded lifelong member of the Houston motorcycling community with his CMRA Hall-of-Fame career as a racer. But perhaps he is even more well known for his his Ride for Kids Charity. Since his first charity ride in 1993, Ronnie helped raise more than $5 million for research and family support that impacts thousands of children's lives.
