The best roads to ride near Houston
Where to ride your bike?
While it can be fun to just start riding without knowing where you’re going, a destination can also be helpful. That’s why V1 Moto has provided some of our favorite rides in the Houston, Texas, area.
FM 149 through Sam Houston National Forest
FM 149 travels through the southern side of the Sam Houston National Forest. Along this route are tall pine trees and tons of wildflowers when the season is right. Just east of the route is Lake Conroe, a great spot to stop and have lunch on shore of the lake. Map here.
FM 3090: Navasota to Carlos
FM 3090 is a shorter route, but is a favorite amongst local riders. With smooth pavement, wide sweeping curves, and one 90 degree turn, this route offers a great ride for all kinds of riders. Towards the end of the route in Carlos, there is Yankee’s Tavern, a popular destination for motorcyclists on weekends. You can travel the route in one direction, and then stop to grab some food, scope out the other bikes, then head back down the route in the opposite direction. Map here.
FM 1093/FM 1489: Loop around Brazos River
The 44 mile loop just west of Houston takes you through scenic farmland alongside the Brazos River. This ride is a great escape for riders in the Houston area. The Stephen F.
